Ways to receive money from abroad in Türkiye

Three routes work: a bank SWIFT transfer (the bank deducts an incoming-transfer fee), Payoneer (a receiving account, then withdrawal to a bank) and the sender side of Wise (a payer abroad sends TRY to a Turkish account). The tool assumes the money arrives as TL.

PayPal has not operated in Türkiye since June 2016; Turkish users cannot receive payments (PayPal Türkiye). Since 31 May 2023 Wise gives customers based in Türkiye no new account details in any currency; existing details are being shut down and incoming money is returned (Wise notice).

Three cost parts: fee, intermediary bank, exchange rate

The fee is the published tariff. The intermediary deduction is what correspondent banks take on the way; no fixed figure is published, it depends on the route and OUR/SHA/BEN. The exchange-rate gap is the difference between the applied rate and a reference rate, and rarely appears in a tariff. Each part is its own line, measured against the sent amount at your reference rate; unknown optional values are flagged as assumptions.

How to read bank tariffs

Each bank’s incoming FX tariff is a percentage with a minimum and a maximum. İş Bankası adds a flat fee on small amounts. Values exclude BSMV and are editable.

Bank incoming FX transfer fee presets
BankFee (TL)Rule date
İş BankasıUp to 12,000: 855 flat; above: 0.5%, min 1,365, max 6,500updated 09.01.2026
Akbank0.6%, min 1,475, max 8,885updated 09.02.2026
Garanti BBVA0.58%, min 1,038.10, max 7,685.72valid from 05.02.2026

Garanti BBVA’s separate GB International rate is not used. The BSMV rate is unverified, so there is no default; empty shows “BSMV not included”. The fee basis is the TL equivalent at your reference rate, a model assumption because the bank’s real conversion policy is unverified. OUR: sender pays intermediary banks; SHA: shared; BEN: receiver pays.

Payoneer fees

Payoneer’s pricing page shows an update dated 1 January 2026. Receiving into a non-local-currency account costs 1%, minimum 1 USD; a US ACH debit 1%; a card up to 3.99% + 0.49 USD, an upper bound rather than a universal fee. Payoneer-to-Payoneer is free; converting between your own balances costs 0.50%.

Withdrawal to a bank (outside the 1.50 USD country list) is 1.2% to 4%. Türkiye’s exact rate is not published, and some corridors carry a country-specific minimum of up to 20 USD. So Payoneer appears as a conditional percentage range excluding any account-specific minimum, with no firm amount until you enter your actual rate and minimum. An empty minimum means unknown, not zero.

The 29.95 USD annual fee applies if you receive under 6,000 USD in 12 months; it is not per transfer and is waived in the first year of paid annual plans. Receiver or payer may bear the collection fee; a fee the payer pays separately never reduces the receiver’s money.

When the sender pays with Wise

Wise’s pricing page says only “Minimum %0,2”. Its undocumented price service, queried on 11 October 2026, returned for 1,000 USD paid from a balance by bank transfer: total fee 5.10 USD, converted amount 994.90 USD, mid-rate 49.2694. The same request gave 11.67 USD for bank transfer or SWIFT funding and 5.58 USD for RECEIVE_BANK_TRANSFER: separate sample quotes.

The sample is indicative; a foreign payer’s eligibility is unverified. The service’s percentage and flat-part metadata do not match the returned fee, so no formula is used. Change the amount or method and the sample is invalid: enter the current total fee and rate.

Measure the exchange-rate gap yourself

Tariffs show the visible fee, not the rate gap. Compare your bank’s USD buying rate with a reference such as the TCMB bulletin’s USD forex buying rate. The example, 49.1274, comes from bulletin 2026/191 of 9 October 2026; it is not today’s rate. Enter the bank’s rate or a percentage gap; with neither, the reference rate is used and flagged.

Tax note

The tax side of incoming money is not part of this calculation; we cover the tax treatment of software service exports in a separate guide.

Sources and check date

Sources checked on 11 October 2026; fees may change. Check your own bank’s and provider’s current tariff before sending. Not financial advice. For TL’s loss of value over time, see the inflation calculator.

Frequently asked questions

How many TL arrive from 1,000 USD?

It depends on the bank’s rate, fee and deductions. In the example, 1,000 USD at 49.1274 is 49,127.40 TL; İş Bankası’s 245.64 TL percentage is below its 1,365 TL minimum fee (excluding BSMV).

Can I receive money with PayPal in Türkiye?

No. PayPal has not operated in Türkiye since June 2016; the tool shows only an information row.

Can I receive money with Wise account details?

Not as a customer based in Türkiye: no new details since 31 May 2023. A payer abroad can still send TRY with Wise; the Wise row calculates that.

What is Payoneer’s withdrawal fee for Türkiye?

Not published; the pricing page gives 1.2%–4%. The tool shows both ends as a conditional scenario until you enter your actual rate and minimum.

Which method is best?

There is no single best method; your numbers decide. Compare net TL, total cost and flagged assumptions.
